Don and Harriet Boresow will celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary on Oct. 14, 2019, with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the week.

Don and Harriet were married on Oct. 14, 1957, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 69th and Holmes, by Rabbi Samuel Mayerberg in the Mayerberg Chapel.

They will be attending B’nai Jehudah’s Friday night services on Oct. 18 and be recognized for their 62 years of a loving marriage (services will take place at the Jewish Community Campus).

The Boresows have 14 children: Mike (partner Janet), Susan, Steve and Sherri Boresow, the late Dennis Boresow, the late Mark Boresow (wife Julie), Larry and Alecia Boresow, Lori and Dr. Max Glaser, Jerry and Beth Boresow, Bobby and Stephanie Boresow, Jennifer and Dr. Jeff Burns, Rebecca Reardon (partner Darrin), Sarah and Russ Mondry, Amy and Dan Prendiville, Danny and Katie Boresow. They are also the proud grandparents of 54 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren so far.

Don and Harriet are lifelong residents of the Kansas City community and are blessed with family, friends and, as Don would say, “a good sense of humor.”

 

Justin and Meg Shaw announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Adam Werthan Shaw, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah at the Jewish Community Campus.

Adam is the grandson of Patricia Uhlmann and the late John Uhlmann, Beatrice Frank of Arlington, Virginia, and Michael Shaw of The Villages, Florida. His great-grandmother is Heloise Werthan Kuhn of Nashville, Tennessee. Adam is the brother of Joshua David and Madeline Ella.

Adam plays baseball on the seventh-grade Pembroke Hill team and is involved in the upcoming school production of “The Outsiders.” He also enjoys chess, books, movies, music and video games.

For his Mitzvah project, Adam has chosen to volunteer with Free Hot Soup, a group whose mission is to share with those most in need. He has prepared and distributed meals to the homeless and underserved in the Kansas City community.

 

 

Susan Peavler announces the Bar Mitzvah of her son, Trey James, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah at the Jewish Community Campus. Trey is also the son of the late Tim Peavler, and big brother to his early departed baby sister Tori.

He is the grandson of Zolan and Doris Gilgus, Nancy Peavler Barton of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and the late Tom Peavler of Waverly, Kansas.

Trey enjoys BMX biking and parkour. He likes putting things together and building anything with his hands. He is a seventh grader at Pleasant Ridge Middle School, where he is involved in crew for the theater department.

For his mitzvah project, Trey collected toiletries for the homeless in conjunction with Free Hot Soup.

 

Michelle and Max Kosoglad of Overland Park announce the birth July 31, 2019, of their daughter, Lily Rose Kosoglad. They are also the parents of Jack and Maggie Kosoglad.

Grandparents are Arlene and John Rubenstein of Overland Park and Cynthia and Jerome Kosoglad of Highland Park, Illinois.

Great-grandmother is Bernyce Kosoglad of Highland Park.

 

 

Nicole Dalen Hill announces the Bat Mitzvah of her daughter, Abigail Taylor, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah at the Jewish Community Campus.

Abby is the granddaughter of Michael and Ellen Dalen.

Abby plays volleyball, is involved in theater and loves to sing. In her free time, she likes to sew and spend time with her friends. Abby earned the Presidential Gold Medal for volunteer service this past year.

For her Mitzvah project, Abby is collecting jewelry for the National Council of Jewish Women’s Mother’s Day Jewelry Project.

Relatives and friends are invited to worship with the family.

 

 

Jonathan and Reggie Fink announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Nathan Eli Fink, at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Kehilath Israel Synagogue.

Nate is the grandson of Sam Devinki of Leawood, Barbara Devinki of La Quinta, California, and Jeff and Beth Fink of Armonk, New York. Nate’s sister is Kayla Fink.

Nate is also the great-grandson of Doris Koslow of Middle Island, New York, Martin Koslow, of blessed memory, and Fred and Maria Devinki, of blessed memory.

Eli is the grandson of Sharon and Alvin Cohen of Overland Park, Gregor Zellhofer of Overland Park, the late Paula Saks-Zellhofer of Chicago, and the late Dennis Jacobson of Des Plaines, Illinois. Eli’s sister is Emma Jacobson, his stepmom Laura Loyacono, and his stepsister and stepbrother are Elena and Joseph Loyacono Bustos of Kansas City, Missouri.

Jenna Brofsky and Ethan Corson of Fairway announce the birth June 2, 2019, of a son, Isaac Louis Corson.

Grandparents are Laurie Stone Brofsky and Joseph Brofsky of Lynbrook, New York, and Judy and Niles Corson of Overland Park. Great-grandparent is Anita Stone of New Jersey and Florida.

Michael Schonwetter and Kasey Kowalski were joyfully married on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Mildale Farm in Edgerton, Kansas. Both are graduates of Kansas State University.

The groom is the son of Mark and Janice Schonwetter and the bride is the daughter of John and Angela Kowalski. The couple and their parents reside in Overland Park.

The bride’s sister, Cali Kowalski, served as maid of honor and the groom’s brother, Ben Wiedermann, served as best man.

Bridesmaids were Morgan Priest, Victoria Wiebke, Marissa Leonard, Jessica Steppe and Kennedy Wools. Groomsmen were Armani Williams, Kevin Furdek, Kyle Marra, Joe Kowalski and Alex Ephraim.

Ushers were Connor Yost and Hunter Koch. Sloane Steppe, Presley Steppe, Ansley Gingerich and Harbor Kate Kovak served as flower girls and Cooper King was the ringbearer. Owen and Everett Gingerich were sign holders. Finley King was the reader and Jacob Gingerich was the guestbook greeter.

The interfaith ceremony was officiated by Rev. Gar Demo and Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn.

Family and friends of the couple comprised the wedding party.
