Healing Hate unveils the inspiring journey of Mindy Corporon and Sunayana Dumala, two resilient strangers who transform a personal tragedy into a powerful force for change. Healing Hate delves into the profound connection between these two women amid the sorrowful echoes of two tragic hate crimes. Corporon lost her son and father in the Overland Park, Kansas, Jewish Community Center shooting in 2014, and Dumala's husband was killed during a 2017 hate crime in Olathe, Kansas. Corporon and Dumala found strength and solidarity in their shared grief, leading to the birth of their respective organizations, "SevenDays" and "Forever Welcome," which are dedicated to preventing hate crimes, fostering understanding and promoting inclusivity. Through poignant interviews, archival footage and personal narratives, Healing Hate explores the depths of Corporon and Dumala's pain and the transformative power of their friendship.

Solomon Shields is a Kansas City native with two years of documentary-making experience. After graduating from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2020, Solomon went on to work at the Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City’s Historic 18th and Vine District and later at the Minnesota-based production company Winter State Entertainment. Shields is a skilled writer, producer and director. He strives to shine a light on issues and stories overlooked by the masses and give a voice to those who do not feel they have one.
