The Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) has announced that Joshua Stein will serve as its next executive director, beginning in January of 2024.

Three Jewish community members, Drs. Alan and Sharon Poisner and David Eisenberg, recently returned from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they competed in the biannual National Senior Games along with 11,500 other seniors in 50+ age groups in a variety of sports.

After running A-Lotta-Stuff at Stan’s for nearly 20 years, Lori Siegel is closing its doors at the end of August. The property, located at 6700 Kaw Dr. in Kansas City, Kansas, has ties to the Siegel family that run back to the 1950s. Siegel, who is retiring, has run and managed the location as a thrift store since 2005. 

From June 11 to 14, the American Jewish Committee (AJC) held its Global Forum in Israel to celebrate the 75th year of the Jewish State.

Kim Kort, a Texas-based artist who was raised in the Kansas City Jewish community, had her artwork featured on a jumbotron in New York City’s Times Square on July 16.

The public is invited to a free Israel Forum at Congregation Beth Torah on Sunday, July 23, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Rabbi Javier Cattapan and Rabbi Scott White will address the history and internal workings of Israeli politics, including the context for the current controversy regarding the authority of the judicial system and the status of the coalition government.

This year’s Jewish Culture Fest will celebrate Judaism’s commitment to preserving our natural surroundings with an emphasis on environmental sustainability and tikkun olam.

The J recently launched a new program for adults with young families designed to enhance leadership skills and encourage future volunteer leadership within The J community.
