Kim Kort, a Texas-based artist who was raised in the Kansas City Jewish community, had her artwork featured on a jumbotron in New York City’s Times Square on July 16.

Kort’s piece, titled “Tumultuous Sea,” is a 36”x36” acrylic painting selected for HMVC Gallery New York’s exclusive “Summer Feels” exhibition in their online gallery. Pieces from the exhibition, including Kort’s, were broadcast on a jumbotron in Times Square.

As an artist who paints using acrylic fluid art, Kort uses a method of pouring layers of acrylic paint onto a canvas, resulting in unique, organic art. She runs KK Art Creations out of Dallas and is president of the Texas Jewish Arts Association.

Kort prioritizes giving back to her community, often donating her artwork to be used in nonprofits’ auctions and participating in the yearly International Art and Found Day art giveaways.
