Henrietta Winkler Nemitoff Dalke, 97, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, died on Feb. 25.

Graveside services were held on Feb. 28 at Rose Hill Cemetery. For shiva information, please contact Louis Memorial Chapel.

Henri was born in Port Chester, New York, to the late Jacob and Ethel Winkler, the youngest of six children. Upon arriving in Kansas City in her early 20s, she met and married William (Bill) Nemitoff. Together, they had four children. After her children were born, she returned to school and became a registered nurse. With the untimely death of her husband, she returned once more to school; receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, and later her Master of Nursing Education degree.

After marrying her second husband, David Dalke, she moved to Miami, Florida. She continued her career in nursing education, creating and chairing the Transitional Nursing Program at Miami Dade College.

Upon retirement, she and David enjoyed extensive travel in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia, including two round-the-world cruises. They loved their piece of Sanibel Island, bought in 1978, creating four decades of memories for their children and grandchildren.

She said she was blessed with 60 years of wonderful marriage – 20 to Bill and 40 to David. After David passed away and in the last decade of her life, she discovered new friends and activities through her independent living at Harbor Place of Port St. Lucie.

She was a voracious reader and loved playing dominoes and bingo with family and friends. She was the matriarch of her 34-strong family, who survive her. They are her children, Tobi (Les), Arthur (Leslie), Rita (Ron), and Ethel (George); her (step)daughter, Susan (Paul); her grandchildren, Jacob (Amy), Miriam (Adam), Elana (Noah), William (Ali), Sara (Oded), Rachel (Cary), Jonathan (Dana), Nathan and Taylor; and her nine great-grandchildren.

Henri was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and Temple Beth El Israel (in Port St. Lucie). She belonged to Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile #75, and the Research Medical Center Nursing Alumni.
