Bette Irene Chick of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on May 26, 2023, at the age of 96 years and three months. 

Bette was born Bessie Irene Ferril on Feb. 26, 1927, to Rollie A. Ferril and Neva (Crozier) Ferril in Humansville, Missouri. Bette and her mother moved to Lewistown, Montana, where Bette graduated from Fergus High School. After graduation, Bette was a civilian volunteer for the U.S. Air Force transporting aircraft crews from buildings to their aircraft and back. In 1947, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to pursue a career in modeling.

Bette and her first husband, Leon Jacobs, adopted a child, Monte Jacobs. In 1971, Bette married Robert Chick. Robert was vice president of Youthcraft Manufacturing, where Bette continued to model. During her lifetime, Bette traveled the world, seeing China, Africa, India, Iceland, Antarctica, South America, and many more countries. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Chick, son, Monte Jacobs, and stepson, Stephen Chick. She is survived by her brother Vance Pursley (Marla) of Republic, Missouri; Leslie Wayne Pursley of Fairport, New York;  stepdaughter Erica Chick (Arthur Nissenbaum) of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends Gabriel Hernandez, Maxine and Marvin Gilbert, Valerie Gaines and many other friends. 

Graveside services were held on May 30, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 5529 Ditzler Ave., Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice House of Kansas City, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
