Strangers No More, an interfaith women’s group, recently completed its 2023 fall series of discussions and community service projects.

Strangers No More is a group of women interested in learning more about each other’s faith, constructing paths to understanding, working together to make a difference in the community and trying to create a lasting civic peace. The group came together more than nine years ago after the 2014 murders at the Jewish Community Campus and Village Shalom by a white supremacist

The group’s 2023 fall series concluded with its annual community service project. One of the most urgent needs for local food pantries continues to be feminine hygiene products, so, at a potluck salad luncheon, many of the badly-needed items were collected and donated to the Jewish Family Services Food Pantry.

Conveners have announced programs planned for the upcoming winter/spring series beginning on Jan. 8. Over the following months, the group will hold discussions about doubt, raising children in the faith, angels in Judaism and Christianity, forgiveness and other topics. The series will culminate in a tour of religious treasures at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Strangers No More meets twice a month — one Monday evening on Zoom and one Thursday morning in person. There are no dues. The group is co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Bureau | American Jewish Committee and Women in Faith of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

Women interested in more information should email JCRB|AJC Program and Administrative Coordinator Henri Gaeddert at and ask to be placed on the mailing list.
