Through the Jewish Community Chaplaincy program housed at Jewish Family Services, the community is invited to prepare for the holidays by attending a Service of Spiritual Renewal for the High Holidays at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27, at Village Shalom, 5500 W. 123rd St., Overland Park, KS 66209. 

This year’s season will begin with Erev Rosh Hashanah on Friday evening, Sept. 15, and conclude after Yom Kippur on the evening of Sept. 25.

Jewish Community Chaplain Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick will be joined by Lezlie Zucker, music coordinator for Congregation Beth Torah, and community musician Michelle Cox, who together created the service. The one-hour service will include traditional and contemporary prayers, songs and readings. The service will also include moments for personal reflection and closure of the current year, combined with words of hope for the year ahead.
