The Jewish Community Foundation’s (JCF) Community Legacy Fund has awarded $75,040 in innovative and emergency grants.

The grants will support new programs that provide an “innovative approach to an existing or emerging community need” or respond to financial or humanitarian emergencies.

The Community Legacy Fund consists of permanent endowments from which grants are awarded to community agencies whose applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Foundation’s Grants Committee and board of trustees.

Community Legacy Fund grants were awarded for the following programs:

Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC: Fighting Antisemitism in the Workplace

This grant will help JCRB|AJC provide business training on the history of antisemitism and demonstrate how people can be allies for Jewish coworkers.

Jewish Family Services: Refrigerated lockers for Food Pantry

Funding will be used to underwrite refrigerated lockers that can be filled during the Food Pantry’s operating hours. After operating hours, clients may use a special code to retrieve their food orders.

Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City: PJ Library in the Neighborhood

Funding will help provide family programming to those living outside of the program’s standard geographic area.

Jewish Vocational Service: Intrater Scholarship Fund to benefit JVS

This grant will support a scholarship program which provides JVS staff with financial resources to help attain advanced degrees or licensing to help them advance in their careers.

KU Hillel: Advocating and educating against antisemitism

This grant will be used to help teach KU students the tools to combat antisemitism.

National Council of Jewish Women: Period Project

Funding will help provide menstrual products for six schools serving middle and high school students in the metro area.

Sasone (Jewish Federation): Community Study for Sasone

This grant will help Sasone conduct a professional, outside study of the community to best determine programmatic needs and identify possible gaps in service.

In addition to innovation and emergency grants, the Community Legacy Fund also provides annual core grants which support operations central to an organization’s mission or for funding essential services not otherwise available within the Jewish community.
