Audition registration for The J’s annual KC SuperStar competition is now open.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. Participants can register at thejkc.org/kcsuperstar.

Now in its 13th year, KC SuperStar is an “American Idol”-style singing competition in Kansas City that awards a $10,000 scholarship to the most talented high school singer in the area, as well as scholarships for the second, third and fourth place winners.

All Kansas City-area high school students who love to sing are encouraged to audition, regardless of singing level or experience.

KC SuperStar is The J’s Annual Fundraiser and provides financial assistance to our members so that they can partake in The J’s many services, such as the Child Development Center, day camp, health and fitness programs, and arts programs, as well as meals and transportation for Heritage Center members.

Last year, with the help of our community, The J was able to provide $540,000 in financial aid. KC SuperStar also provides more than $22,000 in scholarships to the 10 finalists who make it through the competition. The top 10 train with local music professionals and perform for our donors and members in the final show.
