American Public Square at Jewell, JCRB|AJC Kansas City and Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City will jointly present an evening event, “The Rise of Antisemitism from the Left and the Right,” at 6:30 p.m. on September 2 at Union Station.

Despite it being a deeply important issue within Jewish communities, nearly half of all Americans do not know what antisemitism is. One in four Americans (25%) say they have heard of it but don’t know what it means, and one in five (21%) say they have never heard the word.

The September 2 program will highlight the increasing presence of antisemitism in the U.S. and its unexpected sources.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ethan Katz, an associate professor in the Department of History and the Center for Jewish Studies at UC Berkeley. Panelists include Congressman Ted Deutch of Florida; Dr. Jonathan Judaken, Spence L. Wilson Chair in Humanities at Rhodes College; Yavilah McCoy, CEO of DIMENSIONS Inc.; Batya Ungar-Sargon, deputy opinion editor at Newsweek; and Eric K. Ward, senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Tickets are complimentary, but registration is required for in-person and virtual viewing. Face masks will be required for in-person attendance irrespective of vaccination status. Attendance will be limited to 100 guests in Union Station’s 400-plus capacity Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre.
