Klopper, Leon

Leon Klopper, of Overland Park, Kansas, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the age of 78. The service to honor his well-lived life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to the SPCA, Wayside Waifs or a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Leon was born June 3, 1938, to his late parents, Rubin Klopper and Cyril Ernest in Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie of Overland Park, Kansas, and three children: Ben Klopper (Angie Klopper), Karen Klopper and Bridget Peters (Matt Peters). Leon was a grandfather to five grandchildren: Tyler Klopper (Ben Klopper), Brittany Klopper (Ben Klopper), Maggie Postier (Bridget Peters), Ashton Peters (Bridget Peters), Evan Peters (Bridget Peters).

Leon had a love for martial arts and was a 3rd degree black belt and continued to teach the art to children. He had a love for building and creating his own inventions.

He retired from AT&T after 32 years as a CST electrician. He was also a petty officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 21 years.
