Margolin, Harriet Rose (Ruskin)

Harriet Margolin died on Jan. 13, 2016, at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, Kansas. Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 15, at Rose Hill Cemetery. Donations are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Planned Parenthood, or a charity of your choice.

 

Harriet was born on Sept. 18, 1921, to Jacob and Bertha Allen in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. She graduated from Westport High School. Harriet enjoyed dancing all of her life. She had great legs and a beautiful smile! She performed with The Classics, a group of older entertainers, into her 80s. They performed at many nursing homes as well as public events, such as the Senior Prom in downtown Kansas City. She had many lifelong friends and was a member of the Sewing Circle for over 60 years.

Harriet was preceded in death by her sister and daughter, both named Shirley Doris; her mother, father, and two husbands, Sam Ruskin and Al Margolin. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Ruskin of San Francisco, California, and her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley Nass and Dave Aring of Overland Park, Kansas. She also leaves a granddaughter, Stacey Nass of Denver, Colorado.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa who took such good care of her when she was not at her best.
