Gladys M. Hans

Gladys M. Hans, of Mission Hills, Kansas, passed away Sept. 3, 2015, at her home. Private family services are planned. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Gladys, the daughter of Samuel and Evelyn Kornblum, was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1925. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Her family moved to Kansas City in 1938 when her father established the Midwest location of Kornblum Meat Packing Company. 

Gladys was a graduate of Southwest High School class of 1943. She was a talented artist and during World War II she worked as a fashion illustrator, creating high fashion sketches for local specialty stores. At the conclusion of the war Gladys married the love of her life, Lawrence Hans. They enjoyed 68 beautiful years together. 

Gladys was a member of Palm Desert Country Club, Palm Desert, California, Oakwood Country Club, The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, and numerous philanthropic organizations. 

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents, Samuel and Evelyn Kornblum, and her younger brother Fred S. Kornblum. 

Gladys is survived by her two adoring daughters: Leslie Hans of Scottsdale, Arizona, Cheri Berman and husband Rick of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Elisa Spencer and her husband Brian of Olathe, Kansas, and Kenneth Berman of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandson Eric Michael Spencer.
