Charles Gersh

Charles Gersh, 90, of Leawood, died July 29, 2015. Funeral services were held July 31 at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial followed at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. The family suggests contributions to Jewish Family Services and the Kansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Charles was born August 25, 1924, to Max and Sarah Gersh. He graduated from Wyandotte High School. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. 

After the War, he graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Afterwards, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and his LLM from New York University. He returned from New York City to help his family recover from the Great Flood of 1951. He practiced law in Grandview for over 50 years.

Charles married Mildred (Mickey) Corum, who died in 1981. He was an honorary member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and was the “Wednesday Chef” of its Breakfast Club for 30 years.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Jack Gersh, and sisters, Rose Singer, Pearl Jabanis and Mary Plotzker. He is survived by his brother, Harold Gersh, sister, Eunice Zachariash, and his three daughters: Chris Hornbeck (Richard); Pam Nardolilli (Mike); and Sarah Adams (Craig). Charles had seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
