Barbra McKee, 62, passed away March 8, 2015, at her home. Funeral services were held March 10 at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Congregation BIAV, Johnson County Developmental Supports or a charity of one’s choice.
There were no strangers in Barbra’s life — only people she had not yet met. She was a kind soul who always looked for the best in others and touched many lives that became lifelong friends. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}To quote a longtime friend: “She was such a big personality in such a little person.” Barbra’s musical and artistic talents were well known and admired by many. Her passion for music was only surpassed by her love and passion for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and the countless others that called her “Mom.”
Barbra was preceded in death by her father, Shelby Ernstein, in 2012.
She is survived by her sons, Jordan Soliz (Gloria), Adam McKee (Jessi); stepsons, Kyle Dykes (Adriana), Nick Dykes (Farren); grandchildren, Aliyah, Elijah and Tovah Soliz, Ruby Rucker-McKee, Stanley, Oscar and Merriweather Dykes; mother, Shirlee Ernstein; brother, Andy Ernstein (Cara); sister, Leah Ernstein.
