She married Walter Robbins in 1961 and they celebrated their 55th anniversary on Nov. 25, 2016.

Toby and Walter lived on Long Island, New York, for many years where they raised their children. Later they moved to South Carolina where family and friends would often come to visit.

Toby was an avid reader and an accomplished cook who happily shared her recipes. She enjoyed all types of music and being near the water. She was an expert seamstress and took pride in making almost all of her own clothes.

Over the years, Toby and Walter participated in 14 Elder Hostel programs at varied locations where work study and recreation were combined.

Toby is survived by her husband, Walter, siblings: Rita Shapiro and Sandra Golden of Kansas City, Martin Shapiro of Chevy Chase, Maryland; brother and sisters-in-law: Steve and Fran Robbins of Newtown, Pennsylvania, and Dan and Joyce Schleifer of Brick, New Jersey. There are two children: Alan Robbins and Jill Goldberg; three grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

When Toby laughed, we all laughed. Toby was loved and will be very much missed.
