Switow, Edward

Edward Switow, 91, passed away on Oct. 31, 2016, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he resided a little over a year. Graveside services were held Nov. 2 at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery in Scottsdale.

 

He was born on Jan. 10, 1925, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Frances and Simon Switow and lived in Louisville for 89 years. 

Ed was a proud Veteran of World War II and served as a gun crewman, light artillery in the 76th Infantry Division. He was a graduate of Speed Scientific School at the University of Louisville.

Ed worked at Louisville Gas and Electric and at GE Appliance Park as a mechanical engineer. Ed and his wife Joan were season ticket holders and avid fans of the UL Cardinals basketball. They enjoyed traveling with the team and a Dallas trip to the NCAA Championship.

Ed’s pride and joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren that resided in Kansas City. He was a very proud Poppa of two granddaughters.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother Milton Switow, CPA.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan Switow; daughter and son-in-law, Harryette and Ron Cooperman of Scottsdale, formerly of Leawood; and granddaughters, Amy Cooperman and Marcie Cooperman Komaiko and her husband Richard Komaiko.
