At the recent conference of the National Association for Temple Administration (NATA), Jeanne Adler, executive director of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, was awarded the Myron E. Schoen Service to Judaism Award. This award is presented to an executive director who has made a contribution well beyond the requirements of his or her position, through leadership, authorship or involvement.

Jack Levine

Jay and Kate Levine announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Jack Levine, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Congregation Beth Shalom. 

Jack is the grandson of Art and Linda Levine and James and Alice Algie.

Relatives and friends are invited to worship with the family and to attend the Kiddush following the service.

Miles Bellman and Leah Hess

Leah Hess and Miles Bellman were married in a garden ceremony on Saturday evening, Aug. 29, 2015, at Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson, Connecticut. Rabbi Karen Landy, a friend and co-worker of the bride, officiated, assisted by Cantor Hollis Schachner of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, Massachusetts, where the groom’s family are members.

Seth Gilgus

Seth Gilgus, a senior at Syracuse University, has been selected to the 2015 Empire Rugby Conference All-Conference 15’s Team at the position of center. He is one of six players from Syracuse to earn a spot on the 25-person team. Gilgus is the past president of the Syracuse University Hammerheads, the university’s rugby team, which he joined as a freshman. He is a graduate of Lee’s Summit West High School and was a co-founder of the Lee’s Summit rugby team for high school players. He is the son of Mark and Patty Gilgus.
