On Aug. 19, Sharon Ann Glickman, beloved wife of the late Frederick Glickman (z’’l) and daughter of the late Betty and Morris Elbaum; devoted mother of Michelle (Eric) Chudow and Joshua (Allison) Glickman; loving sister of Joy (Paul) Elbaum-Rezendes; and cherished Bubby of Ross, Jonathan and Aviva Chudow, and Ryan, Maya and Asher Glickman, passed away.
Sharon was a native of the Bronx and Queens, a true New Yorker. She and Rick met while they were both working at NYU Medical Center and started a family in New Jersey in the late 1970s, welcoming Michelle. After a few years in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Josh was born and Rick taught at the University of Utah, Sharon and Rick moved back to the East Coast and settled in Maryland, where they instilled strong Jewish values in their family through their involvement at B’nai Israel Congregation and the Jewish Community Center in Rockville.
Sharon was a lifelong educator, teaching in early childhood classrooms across the state of Maryland for many decades, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. While losing Rick to cancer in 1999 left a hole in her heart that was never truly filled, Sharon shared a truly endless amount of love with her six grandchildren, who always made her smile. She enjoyed music, reading and sitting on the beach listening to the waves. The daughter of a Holocaust survivor, Sharon was a fighter to the end, surviving for almost nine years after her melanoma diagnosis, treasuring all the time she was able to spend at family mitzvot, holidays and celebrations. She leaves behind a legacy of love for family, support for Israel and Jews around the world, and memories for her children and grandchildren that they can carry into the rest of their lives.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 21 at B’nai Israel Congregation in Rockville, Maryland, followed by burial at Judean Memorial Gardens.
