Emily Helene Perlstein, 44, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away in her hometown on May 25.

Emily was the beloved daughter of Linda Feder Goldstein and Elliott Goldstein, and of the late Gregory Perlstein. A devoted sister to Keri Unowsky (Dan), Amy Goldstein (Barry) and Sara Perlstein Gordon, Emily was also a cherished aunt to Sarah Unowsky, Micah Unowsky, Gabriel Goldstein, Bennett Gordon, Jacob Goldstein and Lucy Gordon.

Emily lived her life with deep love, fierce loyalty and an unwavering commitment to others. She fiercely protected what she held dear, and everyone in her orbit felt seen, valued and cared for.

She began her career as an early childhood intervention specialist, working with children with autism and making life-changing impacts on countless families. Later, as a Licensed Master Social Worker, Emily built her own private practice dedicated to supporting young children — a true calling that guided her professional life with purpose and heart.

Emily had a heart of gold and a spirit full of kindness. She was endlessly compassionate, deeply empathic and always rooted for the underdog. She never gave up on anyone. Emily had a gift for nurturing connections — staying in touch with family and friends, offering support without hesitation and making every person feel genuinely important.

She delighted in the finer things — especially gourmet meals and good coffee — but it was the company she kept that mattered most. She adored her beloved cats, Jewel Pearl and the late Charlie, and found joy in collecting purses and makeup — often sharing her favorite finds with loved ones, always with generosity and delight.

Despite facing more health challenges than most, Emily carried herself with strength, grace and resilience. Her warmth, humor and unwavering kindness left a mark on all who knew her and will be profoundly missed.

A funeral service was held on May 28 at Louis Memorial Chapel.
