Jewish Federation is currently accepting nominations for its annual Jewish Educator of the Year Award.

This award is given each year to an individual who transforms how Jewish Kansas Citians learn. Applications are accepted from organizations and members of the Jewish community and will be considered by a panel of the most recent award recipients.

Ideal nominees demonstrate outstanding dedication to their students and the Jewish values, traditions, history, and sense of identity they impart through their roles.

Nominees can be full-time, part-time or volunteer educators. Both those who work directly with students and those who oversee implementation of an educational vision or program are eligible.

This award can be given to educators who work with any population within the Kansas City Jewish community, inclusive of every denomination, community program, or age of students.

Recent recipients of the Jewish Educator of the Year award include:

  • Sarah Markowitz Schreiber, JCRB|AJC, 2025
  • Marcia Rittmaster, Congregation Beth Torah, 2024
  • Judy Jacks Berman, Congregation Beth Shalom, 2023
  • Rabbi Berel Sosover, HBHA, 2022

Nominations can be made at form.jotform.com/JFEDKC/2026-educator-of-the-year through Wednesday, October 14.
