For one week, Kansas City welcomed more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, volunteers and community members for the 2026 JCC Maccabi Games.
Months of planning came to life through competition, connections and a shared celebration of Jewish identity. Kansas City’s largest local delegation in its Maccabi history represented the community, earning medals and creating memories that reached far beyond the competition.
For Games Director Bob Henneke, watching the community’s hard work come together was especially meaningful.
“It was extremely gratifying to see how the months of hard work by so many came together in such an exemplary fashion,” Henneke said.
He felt the spirit of the Games most strongly at the Closing Celebration, where athletes exchanged gear and connected without regard to their delegations.
“Seeing the pride for a job well done on the faces of our community volunteers and leadership brought the week to a wonderful conclusion,” he said.
The Games would not have been possible without the Kansas City community. Host families opened their homes, volunteers gave their time and donors and community partners provided generous support. Together, they made the experience welcoming for athletes and visitors in Kansas City.
Beyond the competition and medals, the JCC Maccabi Games gave athletes the opportunity to build friendships and connect through a shared love of sports.
Ron Miller, an assistant coach and chaperone for the mixed athlete KC 17U boys soccer team, saw that spirit throughout the week.
“I was shocked to see how well all of the athletes interacted with one another,” Miller said.
Kansas City athletes proudly represented their community throughout the week, bringing home medals in several events. The following athletes earned medals at the 2026 JCC Maccabi Games:
