The Jewish Unforgettable Ladies Interested in Eating Together (JULIETs) will meet for a discussion with Laura Gilman, a licensed social worker who will discuss her personal perspective on end-of-life care as a death doula.

The event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 12:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Torah. Registrations must be made by emailing Susie Klinock at by Thursday, Sept. 24.

Through her company, called Your Ritualist, Gilman supports people with end-of-life doula services, with the goal of helping people live with as much meaning as possible near the end of their lives. She can assist in processing feelings related to dying, death and grief; help craft legal end-of-life directives so wishes are made known to both family and medical teams; serve as a funeral coordinator and officiant; and see that wishes are carried out.

“I believe I was put on earth to support people through life’s sacred and everyday experiences,” Gilman said.

All Jewish women (and women of other faiths who have a Jewish spouse) are invited to this free event. No synagogue affiliation is required to attend, and attendees should arrive 15 minutes early.
