Torah Learning Center (TLC) will host a grand opening event for its new building expansion and mikvah at noon on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Included at the event will be a kosher buffet lunch, remarks, a ribbon cutting and tour of the new facilities.
“This project has been years in the making, and we would love to celebrate this meaningful occasion with friends and members from across our entire Jewish community,” said Chaya Niedzwiecki of TLC.
The expansion of the TLC building at 8800 W. 103rd St. in Overland Park includes many facilities for its kosher food programs such as Kosher Meals on Wheels, The Wandering Table, Chai Pies and Graze by Brachie and Chaya. Food-related upgrades include an expanded meat kitchen, dairy kitchen, Passover kitchen, volunteer workspace, refrigerator and freezer storage, many of which are already being utilized.
Other new additions include the addition or renovation of a multipurpose programming room, library and study space, mikvah for utensils, program offices and storage space.
Torah Learning Center has been in its current building since its founding in 1998 and has always been led by Rabbi Benzion and Esther Friedman, who are emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe sent to Kansas City in 1974.
