Broadway star Micaela Diamond has been announced as the host of the 2026 KC SuperStar Finals on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Yardley Hall in the Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College.

KC SuperStar is The J’s signature fundraising event, combining professional-level performance opportunities with scholarship support for young artists. More information about the competition is available at kcsuperstar.com.

Diamond is known for her acclaimed performances on Broadway and on screen. Her career spans stage, television and film, earning recognition for her range as a performer. She earned both Tony and Grammy Award nominations for her portrayal of Lucille Frank in “Parade.” She made her Broadway debut as Babe in “The Cher Show,” and later appeared in Stephen Sondheim’s final musical, “Here We Are.”

Beyond the stage, Diamond has built a growing body of work across television and film. Her screen credits include “Grotesquerie,” “Elsbeth,” “Jesus Christ Superstar Live,” “Tick, Tick…Boom!” and “Up Here.” She is currently appearing in “The Seat of Our Pants.”

KC SuperStar is increasing scholarship awards this year to more than $30,000 for students who compete in the high school “American Idol”-style singing competition. The top 10 finalists work with local entertainment professionals throughout the summer as they develop their talent, culminating in a multimedia, high-energy competition presented for guests.

Auditions are open to students with no prior experience required. Auditions will be held Sunday, March 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Jewish Community Campus.

“KC SuperStar taught me that hard work pays off and to never stop working for something you want,” Key said. “Think of the audition room as a place to share your gift. The team is rooting for you, not against you, and the experience is vital to your growth as a singer.”

Serving as co-chairs this year are J members and community volunteers Alana Muller and Marc Hammer.
