Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA) has announced Rabbi Sarit Horwitz as the second alumni panelist for its spring celebration, “A Night of Mensches & Memories,” taking place Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Rabbi Horwitz currently serves as director of rabbinic leadership programs at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, where she works to cultivate thoughtful, values-driven Jewish leadership. Previously, she spent eight years as rabbi of Beth Sholom Synagogue in Memphis, Tennessee, following four years as a senior rabbinic fellow at B’nai Jeshurun in New York City.

Ordained in 2015 by the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Horwitz also holds a master’s degree in Jewish women and gender studies and was a Wexner Graduate Fellow. She earned undergraduate degrees from Columbia University in psychology and from JTS in midrash. She and her husband, Rabbi Abe Schacter-Gampel, are parents of three sons.

“I am thrilled to return to HBHA, which had such a strong impact on me as an individual, a Jew and a leader,” Rabbi Horwitz said. “I’ve always been proud to be an alumna of the Academy, and it’s truly an honor to come back to the place that helped raise me and share my journey.”

“A Night of Mensches & Memories” will celebrate alumni, community and HBHA memories, with Purim aspects woven into the evening. Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks.
