Jewish Family Services offers Transparentcy, a peer-led support group for Jewish families with trans or nonbinary children of any age.
On Tuesday, July 8, Transparentcy will host a guest speaker, Attorney Arden Pearson.
This program will take place at The J from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Conference Room B (5801 W. 115th St., Overland Park, KS 66211).
Transgender people and those who love them have serious concerns about their legal rights. Pearson, who is an attorney at Missouri Kansas Queer Law, will join a conversation and answer questions about transgender legal concerns.
Pearson graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in September of 2021 and started their career with Kansas Legal Services (KLS). Arden managed the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic at KLS and helped establish the Parent Advocate program in Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties. In September of 2023, Arden and Madeline Johnson opened Missouri Kansas Queer Law to specifically serve LGBTQ+ individuals and their legal needs from an informed perspective. The firm predominately practices civil rights, discrimination, family law and estate planning.
Those who wish to attend the July 8 program are asked to please RSVP in advance.
Transparentcy meets on the third Wednesday of the month, at The J from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The next regular meeting will be on Aug. 20.
