Corbin Henry Lenz and Samuel Damien Tucker will celebrate their b’nai mitzvah in a joint celebration at Congregation Beth Torah on Saturday, May 11.

Corbin is the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Lenz; grandson of Aaron and Diane Beene of Grapeland, Texas, and Joe and Linda Lenz of Maize, Kansas; and great-grandson of Joann Mages of Wright, Kansas. He has three siblings, Alice (17), Dani (16) and Aleksander (8), and enjoys scouting, gaming, playing chess and playing piano.

Samuel (Sam) is the son of Rachel Ommerman and Joshua Tucker and grandson of Edith Ommerman, Maurice Ommerman, Martha Kull and Marilyn Soto. He has one sister, Lilith (10).

Corbin and Sam have been working on a joint mitzvah project to raise money for Sasone, the Jewish community’s program to support students with diverse learning needs, to create a b’nai mitzvah training program for kids with different abilities. Their support will help Sasone create a project for tutors and educators to better support b’nai mitzvah students. On March 31, ahead of Passover, Corbin and Sam hosted a screening of the movie “The Prince of Egypt” and are donating all revenue from selling concessions to their mitzvah project.

“Sam and Corbin’s friendship is a testament to the power of inclusive Jewish education,” said Lindsey Lipsky, director of Sasone. “It has been a true honor to watch them grow, and even more so to have their b’nai mitzvah project benefit Sasone. We can’t wait to celebrate the two of them together on May 11.”

As of publication, Corbin and Sam have raised nearly $1,000. More information about their mitzvah project is available at tinyurl.com/52yyyftu.
