Shaefer is the grandson of Betty and Tom Loggia, and Dorothy Spizman. He has a sibling, Elliot.
Shaefer is a Boy Scout in Troop 61 and a euphonium player in the Indian Woods seventh grade band. He also attends Camp Sabra.
