Pinsky, Edith

Edith Pinsky, 97, of Leawood, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 16, at Louis Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Louis and Edith Pinsky Scholarship Fund at Congregation Beth Shalom or the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy.

Edith was born in Oklahoma, the daughter of Eva and David Rosen. She resided in Montreal, Quebec, with her beloved husband of 57 years, the late Louis Pinsky. They moved to Kansas City in 1979.

From that union resulted three daughters, Charlotte and Richard Brockman, Kansas City, Deborah and Rick Stone, Beaufort, S.C., and Estelle Pinsky, Denver. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Marla Brockman and John Goldberg, Gayla Brockman and Marshall Pred, Brian and Jenn Brockman and James Perlman; and great-grandchildren, Elana, Daniel and Adena Goldberg, Eden and David Brockman and Gabby Pred. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Marion Rosen, Edward Rosen, and Leonard and Nedra Rosen.

She was a life member of Hadassah, Brandies University Women and the National Council of Jewish Women and a member of Congregation Beth Shalom. She was a former member of Chevra Kadisha Synagogue, Montreal, Quebec, and was past president of its Sisterhood.

In the later years of her life Edith’s greatest pleasure was watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and witnessing their achievements.
