Krashin, Jack Ralph

Jack Ralph Krashin, 87, of Overland Park, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 29, in the chapel at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, followed by burial. The family suggests contributions to Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, Chabad House or Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner.

Jack was born in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Louis and Nellie (Penner) Krashin and was a lifelong area resident.

He attended Kansas City schools, graduating from Paseo High School. Jack then entered the United States Army, serving in World War II. After his military service, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jack was in the gem and jewelry business for more than 40 years, retiring from Krigel’s in 1985 and from Diamond Expressions in 1998. He was a member of the Gemological Institute of America for more than 40 years and enjoyed silversmithing classes at Johnson County Community College.

He was a longtime member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Krashin.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fannie (Levine) Krashin; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Netta Krashin, Overland Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha Rubin, Shelly and Robert Bretton and Cara and Andrew Ernstein, all of Overland Park; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Helen Krashin, Newton, Mass., and their son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Karen Krashin, Framingham, Mass.; grandchildren, Samantha and Samuel Feinberg, Kansas City, Mo., Jessica and David Kooris, Stamford, Conn., Sara and Danny Wajcman, Overland Park, Rachel and Brian Gruber, Overland Park, Dan and Jacki Krashin, Chicago, Jeremy Krashin, Chicago, Michael and Jamie Krashin, Portland, Ore., Richard Bretton, Overland Park, Ari Wolf, Overland Park, Jesse Ernstein, Overland Park, and Charli Ernstein, Overland Park; and great-grandchildren, Akiva Gruber, Kira Wajcman, Maya Wajcman, Dahlia Feinberg, Madi Krashin and Michaela Kooris.

Jack was known for his smile and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed sharing his time with family and friends.
