Congregation Beth Torah’s Weiner Religious School (WRS) is experiencing an exciting season of growth as it prepares for the 2026–27 (5787) school year.
With expanded programming, innovative curriculum and a continued commitment to inclusive, hands-on Jewish learning, WRS is now seeking additional passionate educators to join its dynamic faculty team
At the heart of WRS is a vibrant, values-driven approach to Jewish education that meets students where they are and facilitates growth. From Pre-K through high school, students will engage in a multi-sensory learning environment that blends Hebrew, music, art, storytelling and experiential education. Next year’s educational theme will be Judaism Through an Environmental Lens, inviting learners to explore Jewish values through topics like stewardship of the earth, community responsibility and acts of kindness.
This past year, the Weiner Religious School halls were filled with meaningful Jewish learning and joyful celebrations, including hands-on experiences that helped students connect Jewish tradition to their everyday lives. Students and families participated in special moments, including a Consecration ceremony; special projects like the Birthday Box partnership with Harvesters and the social justice committee; learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. through a Jewish justice lens; and environmental stewardship with a Tu B’Shvat Seder and a visit to Mitzvah Garden KC. A special chocolate Passover Seder brought sweetness and wisdom for all ages. Throughout the year, students deepened their knowledge of Torah, prayer and Hebrew while participating in family learning, holiday celebrations and creative projects that supported both individual growth and community connection.
Beyond the classroom, Beth Torah offers a rich ecosystem of connection and creativity. Students participated in Beth Torah Youth Group programming, intergenerational holiday celebrations and inclusive experiences supported by community partners like Sasone. With features like sensory-friendly spaces, Shabbat activity bags and small class sizes, learners of all styles are welcomed and supported.
As educators, we’re constantly adapting the program for our students, our families, and the world around us. The needs of our community are ever-evolving, especially in today’s shifting global Jewish landscape. Our role is to respond in real time — adapting our teaching, holding space for emotions, and helping our students process, grow and stay grounded in our sweet Judaic roots.
For middle and high school students, the T.A.G. (Torah, Avodah, Gemilut Chasadim) teen program provides opportunities for deeper exploration, leadership and social connection. Weekly gatherings include shared meals, prayer experiences, and project-based learning that connects Jewish tradition to real-world impact. And this year, our Confirmation class will be returning, under the direction of Rabbi Craig Lewis, for an exciting transition. As we eagerly await Rabbi Lewis’s arrival and influence on our program structure, please be patient as we roll out new developments.
While enrollment continues to grow, WRS is looking for educators who are eager to be part of something special—whether experienced teachers or those with a passion for working with children and Jewish life. Ideal candidates bring creativity, warmth and a desire to help students build lasting connections to their Jewish identity.
