Jack Julius Hirsekorn, 89, was born April 9, 1928, in Schoenlanke, Germany, to George and Rita (Harris) Hirsekorn and passed away Nov. 12, 2017, in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Jack came to America with his parents and brother in September 1937 and lived in Kansas City all his life until relocating to Huntcliff Summit in Sandy Springs in January 2016.

He graduated from Paseo High School in 1945 and then earned a degree from Kansas City Junior College. After college, Jack served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Korean War. Jack worked in the life insurance industry for much of his career until his retirement in 2015. He was a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU), serving a term as the organization’s president. He worked as a professional insurance broker and was a certified CLU course instructor. In both Kansas City and Atlanta, Jack was an active member and leader of ROMEOs.

Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and is survived by his wife of 66 years, Benita (Adelman) Hirsekorn; sons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Alyse Hirsekorn, Marietta, Georgia; John and Jana Hirsekorn, West Palm Beach, Florida; daughter: Jill Hirsekorn of Charleston, South Carolina; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Heritage Center of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, 5801 W. 115th St., Overland Park, Kansas 66211.

A memorial service was set to be held Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia.
