Dr. Marvin Irvin Dunn, 83, of Mission Hills, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 18, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, University of Kansas Medical Center or the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.

Dr. Dunn was a graduate of Paseo High School. He then attended the University of Kansas, where he received his undergraduate and medical degrees. He completed his medical training at USPHS in San Francisco and the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Dunn was the head of the Cardiology Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center for more than 30 years and was the former dean of the University of Kansas Medical School. He co-authored seven medical textbooks. He was published many times in peer reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Dunn was a lifetime member of Congregation Beth Shalom.

He was married for 32 years to Maureen Cohen Dunn until her passing in 1989.

Dr. Dunn enjoyed playing tennis throughout his life and did an incredible job of balancing his professional life and his family life.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan Dunn, San Diego; his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Dunn and Robert Small, Oak Park Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Elsa Dunn, Tucson, Ariz.; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Eugene Leibson, Prairie Village, Kan.; and grandchildren, Grey Small and Dana Small. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Dr. Dunn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
