Applications available for 2021 Statland Leadership Institute

Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 Dr. Harry & Alice Statland Leadership Institute (SLI). The program is open to young Jewish professionals who are looking to explore their Jewish identity, develop their leadership skills and connect with the Jewish community in a meaningful way.

A collaborative effort between Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and TribeKC, SLI is a concentrated, six-month program. It offers participants the opportunity to work through the steps of becoming a Jewish leader, from breaking down barriers, to getting involved, to taking action and building a community that is represented by all generations.

“Statland showed me I was part of a community I knew existed but hadn’t yet found. Statland helped me leverage my personal experiences to create an authentic and empathetic leadership style which has made me proud to be who I am,” said Skylar Brennan, a 2020 SLI participant.

The program also includes experiential opportunities such as volunteering with a Jewish organization, networking and connecting with community leaders, shadowing a board meeting and meeting one-on-one with a community leader.

“After two successful Statland sessions, we’re very excited to start planning for the 2021 session,” said Leah Mueth, Jewish Federation’s Engagement & FRD associate. “We’re looking forward to continue shaping and growing Statland and what it has to offer for the Jewish young professionals in our community.”

The SLI 2021 session will run from January to June. Applications are open now through Nov. 20; they are available at jewishkansascity.org/statland. The program is limited to 15 participants. Participants will be selected based on their application and interview. For more information, contact Mueth at .
