Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA) will commemorate its 60th anniversary with a Diamond Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, October 20, at the Kansas City Marriott Muehlebach. The community is invited to join this evening of celebration, connection, and Jewish music as HBHA marks six decades of strengthening the future of Jewish life in Greater Kansas City.
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour, followed by a Vaad-supervised dinner and a special performance by Cantor Azi Schwartz of Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City.
An internationally acclaimed singer and recording artist, Cantor Schwartz has served the Park Avenue Synagogue community since 2009 and has developed a global following for his Jewish music. Raised in Israel and inspired by his grandfather, who was also a cantor, Schwartz is dedicated to Jewish music and cultivating the next generation of Jewish musical leaders.
Passing something from one generation to the next is at the heart of HBHA's own story. Generations of Kansas City families have chosen the school, with some of the parents who helped establish HBHA now having great-grandchildren enrolled. Alumni and faculty members also continue to send their own children to HBHA.
“HBHA’s future is bigger than the school itself,” said Annie Glickman, HBHA head of school. “When we give children a strong Jewish education and a real sense of belonging, we’re helping shape the future of Jewish Kansas City. That’s what generations of HBHA families have invested in, and it’s what we have the opportunity to continue building for the next generation.”
The Diamond Anniversary Celebration is an opportunity to celebrate what the community has built over the past 60 years, and to look ahead to what comes next.
