As we welcome a new Jewish year, The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle is also preparing to begin a new chapter.
If you missed the news in our last issue, The Chronicle is transitioning from a biweekly newspaper to a monthly magazine, with our first magazine issue planned for November.
This decision was not made lightly. We’ve spent the past several months thinking about the future of The Chronicle and how we can continue serving Kansas City’s Jewish community in new and meaningful ways.
The magazine format gives us the opportunity to refresh the publication, feature more of the people and organizations that make our community special, and create a publication that will engage both longtime readers and future generations.
The new year is a time to reflect on where we’ve been and look ahead to what’s next. As The Chronicle prepares for this transition, we’re doing the same. We’re building on the strong history and traditions that have connected our Jewish community for more than a century, while looking for new ways to ensure it continues to serve our community for generations to come.
We know this is a big change. For many readers, The Chronicle has been a regular part of Jewish life in Kansas City and a familiar presence in your homes. We’re grateful for the many years you’ve supported The Chronicle, and we don’t take your support for granted.
While the format is changing, our commitment to covering Kansas City’s Jewish community remains the same. The new magazine will continue to bring you the stories, events and information you count on from The Chronicle. You’ll still find many of the regular features you know and love, along with new features designed to make our community’s stories even more engaging.
This issue will be our last print publication before a short break as we make the transition. The break from print will give our team time to put the finishing touches on the new magazine and prepare for its launch. Our next print publication is planned for November, when you’ll receive the first issue of the new Chronicle magazine.
But you won’t have to wait until November to hear from us. During the break in printing, The Chronicle will continue publishing new stories and community news on our website, kcjc.com, and subscribers will continue to receive our weekly emails. We’ll also continue sharing updates on social media and keeping you connected to what’s happening in our community.
As we prepare for both a new year and a new Chronicle, we’re excited about what lies ahead. We’ll share additional details about the new magazine in the coming months and look forward to introducing you to a fresh version of the publication you know and love.
