Jewish War Veterans MO-KAN Post 605 announced in August that it has awarded scholarships totaling $4,950 to nine local students as a part of its annual academic scholarship program.
Students were selected based on demonstrated academic ability, extracurricular involvement and overall application quality. Scholarships were awarded from post funds and honored the names of long-time post members Aaron Braeman, Marvin Denton, Meyer “Mike” Katzman and Marvin Korn. Funding was also supplemented by funds made available by deceased post member Sam Pasmanik under the Gertrude Pasmanik Scholarship Fund, which directs that the funds shall be used to initiate or further the education of worthy students.
This year’s awardees selected by the posts’ scholarship committee were Gianna Cowsert, Max Goldstein, Vivian Holbrook, Hannah Lindenlaub, Lillian Milgram, Caleb “CJ” Slutsky, Eli Slutsky, Natalie Slutsky and Stella Smith-Klein.
