The Greater Kansas City Section of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) has invited Kansas Supreme Court judge Melissa Standridge and Kansas Court of Appeals judge Karen Arnold-Burger to speak on the topic “How the Kansas Supreme Court Works—and Why It Matters.”

Standridge and Arnold-Burger will discuss what the Kansas Supreme Court actually does and why it matters. The presentation will explain the court’s role within the system of checks and balances, the principles that guide judicial decision-making and the importance of impartial, independent courts for all Kansans.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 12, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Heritage at The J. Registration is encouraged; those interested in learning more or registering can visit kansascity.section.ncjw.org.
