The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah will host an event focusing on the separation of church and state in the United States.

“Separation of Church & State: A Constitutional Original” will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at B’nai Jehudah.

Andrew Seidel, vice president of strategic communications for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, will be the featured speaker. Seidel is a constitutional and civil rights attorney and the author of several books about church and state. He will be discussing this constitutional principle and its impact on schools, libraries, healthcare, tax codes and more.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State fights for the constitutional principle, citing the direct language from the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Refreshments will be provided. Registration for in-person attendance is required at bnaijehudah.shulcloud.com/form/SeparationofChurchandState.html.

For those unable to attend in person, the discussion will be livestreamed on B’nai Jehudah’s Facebook page.
