The Jewish Chaplaincy program, under the auspices of Jewish Family Services, will offer a pre-Hanukkah Service of Spiritual Renewal on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m. in the social hall of Village Shalom.

Jewish Community Chaplain Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick and Lezlie Zucker, music coordinator for Congregation Beth Torah, will be joined by Rabbi David Levinsky of The New Reform Temple in leading this service. The program will include traditional and contemporary prayers, songs and readings, as well as moments for personal reflection on experiences of darkness and light in this season.

“I love working with Rabbi Rudnick and our guest rabbis to present Services of Spiritual Renewal throughout the year,” Zucker said. “Hanukkah is especially dear to me because I am drawn to the conversation between dark and light. As the year grows dark and cold, we are called to shine more brightly. Our pre-Hanukkah service includes prayers and songs that explore this interplay of dark and light. While most of our songs aren’t traditional Hanukkah songs, they all touch on the themes of the holiday.”

This service will be recorded and made available after the event at jfskc.org/jewish-resources.

Those planning to attend the Service of Spiritual Renewal in person must RSVP by emailing or calling (913) 327-8250.
