Celebrations

Martin and Irene Goldstein will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 11, 2015. The couple was married on July 11, 1965, in St. Louis, Missouri. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}They have been very active in the Kansas City Jewish community since moving here in 1973. They are current members of Congregation Beth Torah. This loving union has created two sons, David Goldstein and his wife, Deborah, and Brian Goldstein and his wife, Tamara. They have four granddaughters, Leah, Meredith, Marisa and Julia Goldstein. The entire family will commemorate this milestone event together with a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, at the end of July.{/mprestriction}

Wendy Lipp of Vandalia, Ohio, and Joseph Goldwasser and Carolyn Braverman of Overland Park, Kansas, announce the engagement of their son, Jared Alex Goldwasser, to Amanda Eve Hasten, daughter of Dora Hasten of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Edward Hasten of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Marcia and Edwin Soltz of Overland Park, Kansas, announce the engagement of their son, Scott Soltz to Melanie Mirowitz, daughter of Jacqueline Herzog of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Scott Mirowitz of Chicago, Illinois.

Matthew Richard von Ende, son of Richard von Ende and Dr. Harriet Langley of Leawood, Kansas, graduated from Dickinson College on May 17 with a bachelor of arts in political science. von Ende is a graduate of American Hebrew Academy.

Jacob Bell recently graduated from Blue Valley High School and was awarded the Faculty Scholarship, an academic scholarship to attend Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, this fall. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Jacob was also recruited to be a member of the school’s golf team. He is the son of Marla and Jeff Bell.{/mprestriction}

Debbie Sosland-Edelman and Alan Edelman announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Kate Edelman, to Ari Joshua Fine, son of Renee and Howard Fine of Saratoga, California.

Ruthie Bergman and Asher Kaplan were married Sunday, Sept. 7, at Neot Kdumim, Israel.

Blaine and Meredith Nye announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, CaiLyn Ilyse Nye, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Congregation Beth Shalom.

CaiLyn is the granddaughter of Bill and Cindy Noon, Jim and Charlene Nye, Bryan and Rose Davis of Scottsdale, Arizona, and the late L. Michael Weintraub. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}She is the great-granddaughter of Margarett Gutekunst.

Jeff and Jamie Wordsworth announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Brady Gordon, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Congregation Beth Shalom. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Brady is the grandson of Judy Bell and James and Judy Wordsworth. Relatives and friends are invited to worship with the family and to attend the Kiddush luncheon following the service.{/mprestriction}

Rabbi Jacques and Denisse Cukierkorn announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Dahlia, at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}The Temple Israel service will be held at Congregation Beth Torah.

Dahlia is the granddaughter of Jorge and Lucila Dickerman of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and Brenda and the late Ily Cukierkorn of Aventura, Florida.
