Adam Stein and Paula Mahayosnand of Jersey City, N.J., announce the birth Nov. 20 of a daughter, Kaya Rose Mahayosnand Stein. They are also the parents of Isabella.

Grandparents are Herb and Alice Stein, Overland Park, and Inpol and the late Zita Mahayosnand, Meriden, Conn.

Great-grandparents are the late Joseph and Rose Katzeff, Kansas City, Mo., and the late Morris and Fannie Stein, Kansas City, Mo.

A naming ceremony was held in Jersey City on March 1, where Kaya was given her Hebrew name, Rachel Zafara. Both her English and Hebrew names were given to honor beloved members on both sides of her family.

Steven and Mary Anne Chernoff of Lenexa announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Chernoff, to Daniel Hermanson, son of Arnold and Sheri Hermanson of Overland Park.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Selbert and Wanda Chernoff of Fulton, Mo., and Edmund and Benis Berger of Tonawanda, N.Y., and the late Charles and Virginia McCoy of Wichita. She attended Kansas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in apparel merchandising. She is currently employed as a hardlines buyer at Kansas Sampler/Rally House in Lenexa.

The future groom is the grandson of Marian and the late Elza Hermanson of Overland Park and Bob and Marcia Horwitz of Overland Park. He attended the University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications. He is currently employed as a national vendor manager for OrderProUSA in Overland Park.

An Aug. 30 wedding is planned.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Gene and Mary Judy and the late Abraham and Evelyn Alexander. She attended the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is currently employed as a registered nurse in a neonatal ICU in Alexandria, Va.

The future groom is the grandson of Constance and the late Jack Kubisch and Evelyn and the late Donald Bruegger. He attended Tufts University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and psychology. He was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He is currently employed as a Human Resources manager for a government contractor in Herndon, Va.

Edward and Cheryl Alexander of Lenexa announce the engagement of their daughter, Shana Alexander, to Brad Pollock, son of Sandy and Marty Pollock of Marlboro, N.J.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mary and Gene Judy and the late Evelyn and Leo Alexander. She attended Stephens College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion merchandising management. She is currently employed as an associate planner at bloomingdales.com in New York City.

The future groom is the grandson of Estelle and Eugene Steinberg and the late Francis and Bernard Pollock. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in packaging science. He is currently employed as a packaging development manager at Blissworld.

An Aug. 31 wedding at The Gallery is planned.

Judy and Shannon Manning of Lenexa announce the engagement of their daughter, Sherry Manning, to Bradley Davidson, son of Janith and the late Marvin Davidson of Des Moines. 

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Arleta and Charles Manning of Posey County, Ind., and the late Bernice and Emeal Miller of Indianapolis. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas and her master’s degree from Argosy University. She is currently an assistant director of admissions at the Art Institutes International/KC.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Bessie and Harry Davidson of Des Moines and the late Annie and Benjamin Gross of St. Louis. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and is a professional services account manager at F5 Networks.

After a summer wedding, the couple will begin their life together on a honeymoon to the south of France and will live in Overland Park.

Stacey Bell announces the Bat Mitzvah of her daughter, Alina Miriam, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Congregation Beth Shalom.

Alina is the granddaughter of Judy Bell and the late Martin Bell.
