Maurice Jay (Maury) Penner, born January 9, 1946, passed away peacefully August 15, 2016 from Parkinson's/Lewy Body Disease. Maury was a native of Kansas City, KS, earning a PhD in sociology from the University of Kansas in 1974. After working for Kansas state government, he was a professor at Wichita State, then moved to the Bay Area, becoming a professor of public administration at the University of San Francisco.
Family, friends and colleagues will miss his good humor and loving spirit.
Maury is survived by his wife Susan, brothers Jerry of Kansas City and Ron of Victoria BC, and son Ian with beloved grandsons Doran and Ari of Portland OR.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maury's memory may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
A memorial service followed by a reception will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Congregation Ohev Sholom 5311 W. 75th St. Prairie Village Kansas. The service is at 12 noon, the reception is from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Both events are in Asner Hall.
