Gene was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 1, 1935, and formerly lived in Overland Park. He passed away, surrounded by his devoted family, at his home in Piedmont, Calif., on Feb. 12, 2013.

Graveside services were held, Thursday, Feb. 14, at Gan Shalom Cemetery in Briones, Calif.

Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra; his three children, Robert (Barbara), Julie (Stephen) and Debra (Lisa), all who helped care for him so lovingly this past year; and his two adoring granddaughters, Rachel and Eden. He is also survived by his brother, Sam (Janice), of Leawood; his brother-in-law, Don Redmond, and sister-in-law, Sherron Allen, both of Olathe; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
