Davida Markowitz, 92, of Overland Park, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Sheffield Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Congregation BIAV, Kehilath Israel Synagogue or a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Markowitz was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Samuel and Minna Shosid.

She and her late husband, Samuel, owned Ambassador Drugs, in mid-town Kansas City from the late 1940s until the mid-1950s. Mrs. Markowitz then worked for the I.R.S. for more than 20 years before retiring in 1986.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner and Kehilath Israel Synagogue.

Mrs. Markowitz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 38 years, Samuel Markowitz, who died in 1978.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Susan Markowitz, Oakland, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Thomas and Jack Katchmarik, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Claranne Sankary, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Aaron Thomas (Shelby), James Thomas (Afton), Sarah Markowitz and Adam Markowitz; and great-grandchildren, Davis, Reagan and Shiloh Thomas, and Olive Thomas.
