Sidney L. Cohn, 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to many nieces and nephews, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Sweet Life of Overland Park.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 18, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Contributions in

Sidney was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Maryville, Mo., to Joseph and Rebecca (Lettas) Cohn and the family moved to Kansas City in 1923. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and trained as a glider pilot in the U.S. Air Corps, as well as receiving training in parachute rigging.

Sidney married Martha Glickstein on Feb. 1, 1948. He worked as sales manager for various Kansas City companies, including Fixtures Manufacturing. He served as vice president of sales at K.C. Booth Manufacturing until his retirement in 1992.

Golf was his hobby and he loved attending the ROMEO luncheons. Sidney and Martha enjoyed traveling after his retirement. His family was the focus of Sidney’s life. His smile, laughter and loving care of his family will be greatly missed.

Sidney was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rebecca Cohn, and brother, Raymond Kohn.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha G. Cohn; daughters, Judith (Laurence) Mayer of Overland Park, and Marilyn (Tom) Gillman of Tucson, Ariz.; granddaughters, Alison Mayer and Jennifer Mayer, both of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.

Sidney was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah.
