Judge Louis J. “Lou” Davis, 102, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012.

Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday, July 18, at Louis Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family has requested donations to Kansas City Hospice House or a charity of your choice.

Judge Davis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Frances Irene Baker Davis, and is survived by daughters, Harriett Davis Cortez of New Orleans, Diane Davis of Topeka and Roberta and Dr. Larry Rosen of Leawood; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Alex Cortez of Boston, Benjamin and Lisa Rosen and Gabriel Diaz of Miami, John, Kristin, Claire and Samuel Rosen of Chicago, Elizabeth Rosen and Isaac Chopp of Kansas City, Mo; sisters, Ruth Gershman and Mimi Feinstein and husband Al, all of Warwick, R.I.; and beloved nieces and nephews all over the country.

Born in Providence, R.I., in 1909, Judge Davis graduated from Boston University College of Business Administration and BU Law School. A six-term Jackson County Magistrate Judge, he held court in Grandview, Lee’s Summit and Raytown; served 10 years as an associate circuit judge; was president of the Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Court Judge Association; and co-authored the state Municipal Judges Handbook. He was a member of the Heroine Masonic Lodge, Missouri Scottish Rite, Ararat Shrine, B’nai B’rith, The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, and Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations.
