Sanford “Sandy” Goldansky, 83, Overland Park, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 17, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Jewish Family Services, Congregation Ohev Sholom or The Kansas City Hospice House.

Sandy was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. He graduated from Paseo High School, Kansas City Junior College and then served our country in the Army during World War II. Upon his return he attended the University of Kansas.

He worked at Wolferman’s and Tempo/EBE as a sales representative. He then worked at Fred Paul Wholesale Carpeting and for Barrett Carpet Mills. He retired after more than 30 years in the industry.

Sandy was a member of Congregation Ohev Sholom for more than 60 years. Also, he was a member of City of Hope, Heroine Blue Lodge, Ararat Shrine and Scottish Rite for more than 50 years. He was a Commander of the Council of Kodesh of The Scottish Rite. He was an Eagle Scout. Sandy was honored by Ohev Sholom, receiving Simchat Torah honors and the Distinguished Service Award.

Sandy loved to feed his family and friends at any opportunity. He will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff at The Atriums for their loving care.

Sandy was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Ida Goldansky; and brother, Armand Goldansky.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl “Goldie” Goldansky, Prairie Village, Lana and Craig Wolff, St. Louis, Janice Pearl, Overland Park, and Alesa and Jeff Silver, Farmington Hills, Mich.; grandchildren, Harrison Pearl, Chicago, Benjamin Wolff, St. Louis, Phoebe Rose Silver, Farmington Hills, and Jessica Boswell, Olathe; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Boswell, Olathe. Nephews and cousins also survive.
